Scheme & Syllabus of WBPSC Miscellaneous Service Exam

West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) recruits various posts through Miscellaneous Service Recruitment. The commission has just published official advertisement of Miscellaneous Service Recruitment 2018. Here we are going to share scheme and syllabus of Miscellaneous Service Exam.


Scheme of WBPSC Miscellaneous Service Examination  

The exam will be in three successive stages -

  • Preliminary Exam
  • Main Exam
  • Interview/ Personality Test

The preliminary exam will be objective type and main exam will be conventional type. 

Preliminary Exam : There are total 100 objective questions containing 2 marks each. 

1. General Studies - 75 question (150 marks)

2. Arithmetic -  25 questions (50 marks)
One and half hours are allotted for prelim exam. It is a screening test. Candidates who qualify in this exam will be shortlisted for main exam.


Main Exam : It consists of conventional type questions. Three will be three subjects in this exam-

1. Paper I - English. 150 marks. 1 hour 30 minutes
2. Paper II - Bengali/ Urdu/ Nepali/ Santali. 150 marks. 1 hour 30 minutes
3. Paper III - General Studies & Arithmetic . 100 marks for GS and 50 marks for Arithmetic. 2 hour 30 minutes

Interview/ Personality Test : Candidates who qualify in main exam will be called for interview. The interview contains 100 marks.


Syllabus of WBPSC Miscellaneous Service Exam

1. General Studies (for Prelim & Main Exam) : This part contains general knowledge of different spheres.

2. Arithmetic (for Prelim & Main exam) : Question will be set on the basis of Madhyamik / 10th standard level.

3. English (Paper-I) : 

a) Drafting of a report from points or materials supplied ;
b) Translation from Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali, as the case may be, to
English ;
c) Condensing of a prose passage (Summary/Precis) ;
d) Correct use of words, correction of sentences, use of common phrases, synonyms
and antonyms etc.

4. Bengali/ Urdu/ Nepali/ Santali (Paper-II) :

a) Drafting of a report from points or materials supplied ;
b) Translation from English to Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali, as the case may be ;
c) Condensing of a prose passage ;
d) Grammar.

Questions for Paper-I and Paper-II will be set on the basis of Higher Secondary / 10+2 level.

WBPSC Miscellaneous Service Recruitment 2018

A very good news for the candidates belong to West Bengal on the eve of New Year! West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) has released a official notification of Miscellaneous Service Recruitment Examination 2018 after almost 6 years. It was in 2012 when WBPSC recruited various posts through Miscellaneous Service Recruitment for the last time. After that a new recruitment body was constituted named West Bengal Staff Selection Commission (WBSSC) which recruited various posts. But in this year, the WB Govt. abolished WBSSC. Now WBPSC has to fill up these posts!


Which posts are to be recruited through WBPSC Miscellaneous Service Recruitment Examination 2018

There are more than 20 posts which will be recruited through miscellaneous service exam. The name of the posts are given below-

Pay Scale:

For the posts at sl. nos.(1 to 12) (PB–3) Rs.7100-37600/- with Grade Pay Rs.3900/- and
for the posts at sl. Nos.(13 to 19) (PB–3) Rs.7100-37600/- with Grade Pay Rs.3600/- ]. Besides
pay, the posts carry allowances as admissible.

Educational Qualification: A degree from a recognized university.

Age Limit: Between 20 to 39 years as on 01.01.2018.

Application Fees: Rs. 160. No fees are required for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

Application Procedure: Candidates are required to apply through online mode of application only. You need to apply through Commission's official website  www.pscwbonline.gov.in or www.pscwbaplication.in.

Commencement of submission of online application : The 3rd January, 2018 from
11:00 a.m.

West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) published on 23rd June, 2017 the result of Gr-D (3rd RLST) 2016 exam. The written exam was held in February-March 2017. SSC CGL 2016 New Exam Pattern & Exam Dates

ssc cgl new exam patternGood news for all genuine aspirants who are dreaming to crack a post through SSC CGL exam! Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has finally changed the pattern of Combined Graduate Level examination. It has been heard from few days that the pattern of SSC CGL 2016 exam is going to changed. Finally the process has been implemented.


SSC has decided to conduct the CGL Tier-I and Tier-II exam in computer based test (online exam). The tier-I exam will be qualifying in nature i.e. marks obtained in tier-I will not be considered at the time of making the merit list! Now go into the details of the exam pattern.



Tier-I Exam (Preliminary Test) : 200 Marks

As said earlier, the tier-I exam will be computer based test. The detailed exam pattern is given below-

  1. General Intelligence & Reasoning : 25 Questions (50 Marks)
  2. General Awareness : 25 Questions (50 Marks)
  3. Quantitative Aptitude : 25 Questions (50 Marks)
  4. English : 25 Questions (50 Marks)

Time Duration : 75 minutes 


Tier-II Exam (Main Test) : 400 Marks

It will be same as mentioned in the official notification. That means there is no change in exam pattern. The only thing that has been changed is the exam will be computer based test.


Tier-III Exam (Descriptive Test) :

This test has been newly incorporated from 2016 CGL exam. There will be a descriptive part of English/ Hindi writing skills about Precis/ Letter/ Application etc. writing. This exam is of 100 marks. You will be given 60 minutes for that.


Tier-IV Exam (DEST/ CPT) :

This is same as mentioned earlier in the official notification. This is applicable for few posts like Assistant in CSS, Compiler, Tax Assistant. This is qualifying in nature.


Date of SSC CGL Tier-I exam : starting from 27th August, 2016

Review on WBSSC LDC/ LDA 2016 exam held on June 12

West Bengal Staff Selection Commission (WBSSC) has just conducted today the written exam for Lower Division Clerk/ Lower Division Assistant recruitment 2016. Some mismanagement have been found! Few questions have been repeated in the paper. There are almost 10 questions which are repeated. Anyway, as usual we are here to give our review on WBSSC LDC/ LDA 2016 exam held on 12th June, 2016.


Review & Analysis on WBSSC LDC/ LDA 2016 exam held on 12.06.2016

The overall question paper was easy to moderate. Few questions were tricky that will lead to make you mistake! Let me give a subject-wise analysis here.


Math/ Quantitative Aptitude: This part was moderate. Some tricky questions were there. Questions were asked from profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, LCM and HCF, discount, ratio, partnership, mensuration etc.


English : This section was easy to moderate. Questions were asked from error correction, synonym/ antonym, preposition, articles, group verb, idioms, appropriate word etc.


General Knowledge: The general knowledge including general section is quite moderate. Few questions are confusing. It will make you to commit mistake. If you do not read the questions for the second time, you must mistake while solving. Although number of those questions were not too much. 


We have earlier mentioned that the paper was overall standard as expected. Solving 80-85 questions with accuracy is a good attempt in this question paper. We will discuss later about the expected cutoff marks of WBSSC LDC/ LDA 2016 exam because it is not proper time to talk about the cutoff marks rather better to correct your mistake committed in the paper!

Good News! West Bengal Staff Selection Commission (WBSSC) has just published today the result of written exam for the recruitment of Deputy  Rangers/ Foresters posts.


If candidates find any discrepancy are requested  to bring to the notice of the commission by May 10. Those candidates who have not cleared Part-I exam, can see scanned copies of their OMR sheets.

Centres where RRB NTPC 2016 Exam Rescheduled

Few days back We published an article about the postponement of RRB NTPC (Graduate) 2016 online exam. Many of aspirants said that it's a fake news and we are trying to spread rumours to them. Unfortunately it hurts us! We never spread any fake news and never provide any wrong information. Need proof? Railway Recruitment Board has published about the postponement of online test and also released the list of exam centres where the online exam has been rescheduled.


List of Exam Centres where RRB NTPC CBT 2016 has been rescheduled

RRB has released the list of exam venues where leakage of papers before the exam has been found. Most of the centres are belong to Allahabad, Delhi and Pune. The online test which was held or going to be held between 26.04.2016 to 30.04.2016 has been rescheduled. The examination for other centres will be conducted as per schedule.

RRB NTPC 2016 Online Exam likely to be postponed

Friends, you have a very bad news! Railway Recruitment Board is going to cancel the online exam 2016 (CEN- 03/2015) for various Non-Technical Popular Category (Graduate) posts. The exam of which was started from March 28. Although no official notification has been released yet, but it almost sure to be postponed. The RRB computer based test (CBT) has been canceled due to leak of exam papers.


More than 83 lakhs candidates have been applied for RRB NTPC 2016 recruitment exam. After the paper leak, the railway recruitment department has decided to cancel the recruitment exam and reschedule the exam.


The decision has not been finalized yet, but likely to be done soon.

How will be the candidates intimated about the rescheduling of exam?

Well, the candidates will be intimated through SMS and emails about their new exam venue and dates. Official notification regarding exam cancellation is yet to come soon.
